The veins of the planet are in the Amazon
Freshwater sources are not infinite, and preserving natural water sources such as rivers, glaciers, and lakes around the world is key to human life.
The severe drought season of 2024 in South America demonstrated that water awareness is more important than ever. The Amazon reached its lowest level in over 100 years, complicating the river’s ability to generate rain and humidity, which irrigate the rainforest and the entire South American continent.
Excessive deforestation and appropriation of rainforest land for activities such as excessive cattle rancing and deforestation are considered to be the main culprits.
That is why we signed up to last week’s water commitment: caring for this resource must be a daily task, throughout the year.
Just as a human heart requires care to stay healthy and pump the blood that carries oxygen, the rainforest needs care to transport the water that gives us life.
