The Amazon’s richness is so wide that our work to promote its amazon trees and fruits is not enough to cover all the diversity of this ecosystem. Therefore, the stars of this article will be other fruits belonging to this rich tropical rainforest we want you to know about:

Maraco, bacao or macambo: This is another member of the Theobroma genus, a close relative of cocoa and copoazú characterized by a mild flavor. Its seeds are fermented to give birth to the pleasant drink “bacalate”.

Umarí: This fruit is the famous “Amazon butter”, its pulp is creamy and pleasant tasting, therefore it is mainly consumed fresh and spread on cassava bread. For those who live in the Amazon, the umari is a must for breakfast.

Caimarón: A fruit very similar to the grape but much larger, with a sweet, juicy and fresh flavor. It is mainly used for the elaboration of jams, sauces or liquors.

Aguaje: Its high content of phytoestrogen, a natural female hormone, has earned it the reputation of the “women’s fruit”. Among communities, it is said to help minimize the effects of menopause and some communities attribute it with improving the female figure.
