The cornbird much more than an architect

When talking about this bird, the conversation usually revolves around its hanging homes. But this bird has many more abilities to discover:

  • This species passes on its knowledge and techniques to future generations. Females learn from the most experienced members of their species to master the art of building a hanging nest, and although some take months to learn, they eventually become masters themselves.
  • Males, on the other hand, are great sound imitators. They learn from older males the deep, vibrant song that characterizes this species. However, that does not prevent them from being very good at imitating other sounds, even those of Amazonian animals.
  • This species is very intelligent and cunning, using all possible means to find the resources it needs, whether it be fibers from other nests or food from humans.

Although, the sharpness and cunning of this bird is a source of admiration for many communities, which encourage their young people to observe the behavior of the backpacker among the trees. This way, children learn from the ingenuity of this bird and understand that the jungle always teaches, you just have to know how to observe.
